I spent the weekend in California, wrote poetry on the beach, and got a major writing bug. So here's to my first "real" post on the blog! I'm not sure really what to say, so I guess I'll just ramble.
California was a dream. I went with Aaron (my best friend/older brother/hero/egg salad buddy). We spent the night in Vegas, wandered the strip, rode a roller coaster, then the next day finished the drive to California! That night we did a session on the San Diego temple and It. Was. Incredible. Just, perfect in every sense of the way. Saturday was spent at Universal Studios, which was so fun. And then Sunday we went to Sister Oriana Wai's homecoming! (We were companions for 3 months, and I missed her so much.) Then we went to the beach, and that night I hiked Suicide Hill with Oriana. It was probably the best, and most needed weekend trip. :)
I've been thinking a lot about my mission lately. A lot of things have come from those 18 months in England. And honestly, it was the best decision I have ever made. My mission means the world to me. Friendships formed, experience gained, everything about it. But mostly, how I learned to rely on the Savior. For those of you who know me well, know that I struggle a little bit with high levels of anxiety. And lately, it's been a pain, and I've made some mistakes and over reacted and it hasn't been fun. But every day I am so grateful that during those 18 months, I learned what it means to give it all to Him, and that He truly bears our burdens. Yeah, I get anxious, but it doesn't matter because the Savior is there and He knows, and He comforts each and every one of us. He loves us, and I love him. My mission means everything to me, because Jesus Christ means everything to me. I'm just grateful for the peace the Gospel brings.
Well, I'm not sure what else to write.
So here's a few songs I've grown quite fond of lately.
Prodigal by Relient K
Water Under the Bridge by Adele
Humble and Kind by Tim McGraw
Semi-Automatic by twenty one pilots
And a throwback to my high school/junior high days, just because.
The Other Side of Down by David Archuleta
Until next time!
